CYLINDER BLOCKS

Cylinder Blocks

G & A Equipment and Machine inspects and estimates cylinder blocks per OEM dimensions.

All cylinder blocks, similar to all other castings, go through a detailed inspection including magnetic particle inspection and measuring.

Also, we offer pressure testing as an inspection option if you are trying to troubleshoot a problem.

Repairs most often performed on cylinder blocks include deck resurfacing and machining the upper bores.

We have the capability to repair the main bore by machining the mating surfaces of the main caps and then cutting the bore diameter.

If you have a damaged main bore from a spun bearing we can repair it with a spray weld or sleeve process.

Repairs we normally perform on “wet sleeve” engines include lower packing bore repairs, bolt hole repairs including head bolt holes, upper counter bore inserts installed, cam bearing bore repairs and we can install lifter bore repair sleeves.

Installation of a repair sleeve to restore the cylinder bore on certain diesel engines allows you to continue to use standard pistons.

We can also restore your deck surface utilizing our thermal coating system.

Once all machining has been performed we then thoroughly clean your cylinder block, brushing the oil gallery lines to make sure we have removed all metal debris.

At this point, we can return your cylinder block as is or we can install new cam bearings and liners, allowing you control over the project.
